dependent benefits eligibility audit deadline extended
The deadline for the University of Michigan’s eligibility audit of all dependents enrolled in U-M medical plans has been extended by one month to May 28, 2010.
The audit is designed to ensure that all individuals enrolled in U-M medical plans as dependents are qualified for coverage. The audit includes all faculty, staff and fellows with one or more dependents enrolled in a U-M medical plan, and requires a response to home mailings that began in February. Retirees and their survivors and employees on long-term disability are excluded from the audit.
Chapman Kelly, the company administering the audit for the university, mailed letters with information about the required documentation to prove eligibility and instructions on how to return document copies by mail, fax or secure document upload. If you have dependents enrolled in U-M coverage and have not received the letter, or have misplaced your copy, contact Chapman Kelly’s customer service center toll-free at (877) 749-0516 for assistance. Representatives can arrange for a duplicate to be promptly sent to you.
It is very important to respond to the audit. Without the required documentation to show eligibility, the university will remove those covered as dependents from U-M medical plans.
