COBRA Premium Subsidy under the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) approved by Congress on February 13, 2009, provided a federal government subsidy to help people pay for a portion of their COBRA premiums for up to 15 months. On April 15, 2010, the President signed into law an extension of COBRA premium assistance for eligible individuals who are involuntarily terminated from employment through May 31, 2010.

The Act also provides retroactive eligibility for individuals who lost their jobs after the prior COBRA subsidy expired on March 31, 2010. For more information, please see: ARRA COBRA Premium Reductions.
